About The Position

FT Schools is the Financial Times’ flagship education program, providing free access to FT.com for high schools teaching students ages 16–19 worldwide. Over 5,800 schools in 132 countries use FT content to support learning, exam preparation, and career readiness. The program includes resources like the FT Schools Hub, competitions, newsletters, webinars, and the Student Advocate Program, where students promote trusted journalism, build leadership skills, and share feedback with the FT. We are seeking Student Program Assistants to guide and support these Advocates, helping connect students with the FT and making its journalism more relevant to younger audiences. The Student Program Assistant (FT Schools) role is a part-time, fixed-term position running for approximately six months, from September 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027. This remote opportunity is designed to be flexible around academic commitments, requiring an average of 12 hours per month.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate university student
  • High levels of motivation and initiative
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse group
  • Confidence in handling multiple stakeholders (students, teachers, FT team)

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a group of up to 100 Student Advocates through monthly calls and regular communication (e.g., Slack)
  • Encourage confidence and creativity in generating ideas to increase engagement with the FT in schools
  • Act as a key communication channel between Student Advocates and the FT Schools Team
  • Collaborate with the Schools Team to develop and implement ideas created by students
  • Gather feedback from Student Advocates to inform ongoing projects
  • Engage with teachers to share updates, ideas, and progress of Student Advocates
