About The Position

The student pharmacist will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain the practical experience that will enable them to meet the needs of patients. The student pharmacist will gain experience in prescription order processing, verbal communication, problem-solving and critical thinking. The successful candidate supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and division/company policy requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, currently pursuing advanced degree in pharmacy
  • Licensed as an intern in the state where the student is practicing pharmacy
  • 0 – 1 year’s related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work toward established goals independently
  • Pay close attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively with fellow professionals.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, above average organizational skills are needed to be successful in this position.
  • Proficient with PCs, Microsoft Office Applications, and the ability to quickly learn new programs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the drug file and prepares prescriptions for packaging and or distribution.
  • Counts and fills patient prescription based on order.
  • Prepares prescription labels to be placed on dispensing containers.
  • Attaches additional information and instructions on the dispensing container, when necessary.
  • Presents final dispensed product(s) to pharmacist preceptor for verification and final check.
  • Organizes finished products for packing/distribution.
  • Helps to ensure that pharmacy area is always clean and orderly.
  • May assist in maintaining adequate levels of inventory by ordering drugs, following established procedures.
  • Prepares and labels stocked drugs.
  • Obtains and enters patient, medical or prescription order data into computer system.
  • Maintains an orderly filing system.
  • Escalates issues to pharmacy preceptor for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws, and regulations.
  • Assists with various projects as assigned by Pharmacist preceptor
  • Other related duties as assigned.
