About The Position

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Student Part-Time Professor to teach PHI2174-B00, a course on Ethics, during the 2027 Winter Semester. This course will study the major traditions in moral philosophy and examine questions related to distinguishing right from wrong, the relationship between morality, custom, and law, and the grounds and limits of moral obligation. The teaching mode is in-person, with classes scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 to 18:50. The expected enrollment is 200 students, and the course is worth 3 credits.

Requirements

  • Ph.D in Philosophy.
  • Experience in teaching at university level in Philosophy.
  • Competence in English (language of instruction).

Responsibilities

  • Teach the Ethics course (PHI2174-B00) during the 2027 Winter Semester.

  • Develop and submit a syllabus for approval by the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
