Humber River Health is seeking Student Nurse Externs to join their medicine and surgical programs. Requirements
- Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program of studies.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Must be a team player (works well with others).
- Ability to accurately and effectively communicate with inter-professional healthcare team members.
- Demonstrates understanding of the use of technology.
- Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and ongoing mentoring from a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.
- Mandatory compliance with HRH training: Privacy & Confidentiality requirements, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, hand hygiene modules.
- Good work attendance.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal support to HRH patients as an unregulated healthcare worker.
- Provide basic care (activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, feeding, etc.) for up to 10 patients each.
- Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Document activities of daily living (ADLs), such as intake and output.
- Communicate relevant information for patients for whom care has been provided.
- Immediately report any clinical concerns to their direct supervisor.
