About The Position

Members of the Student Leadership Executive Council serve as elected student leaders who represent the student body, lead campus initiatives, and support the development and engagement of student clubs and organizations. They partner with Student Affairs and the Center for Student Engagement to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and empowering campus environment while developing career competencies through their specific council roles.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time University of Pikeville student in good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5).
  • Elected students for CVO, Financial Navigator, and Outreach Social Strategist must have at least one year of prior campus leadership experience (e.g., club officer, RA, ambassador, SGA/CAB member).

Responsibilities

  • Attend and contribute to all SLC meetings, trainings, and major campus events
  • Represent student perspectives to faculty, staff, and administration
  • Lead or support student-led initiatives and events
  • Collaborate with clubs, organizations, and other SLC members
  • Maintain regular communication with the SLC advisor and council members
  • Carry out the duties of your elected Executive Council role
  • Provides leadership and strategic direction, communicates vision to stakeholders, and promotes innovation and engagement across student groups (Chief Visionary Officer)
  • Records and archives meeting materials, manages internal communications and document editing, and supports writing and training in documentation best practices (Scriber Specialist)
  • Oversees budget creation and financial planning, maintains accurate financial records, and hosts financial literacy workshops while supporting club funding (Financial Navigator)
  • Leads planning and execution of signature annual events, manages logistics and budgets, and evaluates event success with marketing (Activity Alchemist – Traditional Events)
  • Develops and implements unique or culturally themed events, collaborates on new initiatives, and ensures inclusive programming through feedback (Activity Alchemist – Specialty Events)
  • Creates and manages digital content and social media campaigns, tracks engagement, and ensures consistent branding across platforms (Outreach Social Strategist)
  • Leads recruitment and retention strategies, maintains membership data, builds partnerships, and plans outreach to grow student involvement (Engagement Enthusiast)
  • Advocates for academic success, hosts tutoring and career development events, and builds connections with faculty and career services (Academic & Career Catalyst)
  • Promotes health and wellness programs, advocates for mental health awareness, and assists with fitness and recreation initiatives (Wellness Warrior)
  • Serves as liaison between students and administration, voices student concerns, and encourages participation in governance and advocacy (Student Empowerment Specialist)
