About The Position

The Student Judicial Officer (Judicial Affairs Officer) is responsible for administering the student code of conduct to protect student rights and support a safe and orderly campus environment. This role also leads institution-wide crime prevention and awareness programming in compliance with federal requirements, supporting both student and employee education.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in higher education.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student, staff, faculty, and administrative population.
  • Possess or obtain certification as a mediator.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, student groups, classes, clubs, etc.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary student conduct officer managing the review, investigation, and resolution of alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure the integrity of the student conduct process by providing timely communication protecting student rights and upholding College standards.
  • Coordinate and support the Judicial Review Board and represent the College in formal student conduct hearings.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for administering the Student Code of Conduct and conducting hearings in alignment with institutional policy.
  • Prepare and issue sanction letters and ensure appropriate follow-up on sanctions.
  • Maintain accurate conduct records database and documentation; track sanctions and ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Serve as system administrator of the student conduct software (Maxient) including training users and ensuring proper utilization.
  • Compile, analyze and report on student conduct data to inform decision-making, policy development and program improvements.
  • Provide presentations and educational programming student conduct, behavioral expectations, conflict resolution and college policies.
  • Assist in developing learning outcomes and assessment programs for the Student Conduct Process.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including Title IX and ensure alignment with institutional policies.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of institution-wide crime prevention and awareness programming for students and employees in compliance with the Clery Act and Violence Against Women Act.
  • Design and deliver (or coordinate delivery of) training, workshops, and campus-wide initiatives addressing topics such as personal safety, crime prevention, reporting procedures, consent, bystander intervention, and risk reduction.
  • Coordinate with Safety and Security, Student Life, Residential Life, and People & Culture (Human Resources) to ensure coordinated and consistent prevention messaging across the institution.
  • Maintain documentation of programming, participation, and outcomes, and support the preparation of the Annual Security Report (ASR).
