About The Position

The Student Involvement & First Year Experience Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive college-wide co-curricular engagement program designed to enhance student learning, belonging, community engagement and involvement across all CVTC campuses. This position coordinates student involvement efforts, advises the Student Association, and collaborates with academic and administrative partners to create an inclusive, vibrant student experience. It will also serve as the coordinator for the College’s orientation, first year experience, and transitional programming for students to ensure support for new, pre-core, and transfer students transition to CVTC. This role will engage students, form collaborative partnerships with academic programs, and with the community to prepare students for academic and career success by utilizing a best-practice model of student development.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends and travel throughout CVTC’s 11-county district and the state for various events.

Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Office 365 Suite, Canvas, Qualtrics, and Google Drive.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, School Counseling, Higher Education, or related field with a minimum of two years of related experience required.

Experience in college student development, student programming, student group advising, and working with diverse populations preferred.
Post-secondary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key resource for the Student Involvement team by providing peer guidance, sharing knowledge and resources, and supporting day-to-day decision-making to help ensure programs, initiatives, and services are delivered effectively and aligned with departmental objectives and student success goals.
Work with the Student Involvement team through a collaborative, cross-functional approach that advances student engagement and strengthens partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Design, implement, and continuously enhance a comprehensive student development framework that promotes student success, leadership growth, belonging, and involvement while aligning with CVTC’s Core Abilities and institutional priorities. Portfolio of activities include educational, professional development, wellness, civic engagement, financial literacy, cultural awareness, and social programming opportunities.
Serve as the primary point of coordination for student engagement events, ensuring activities such as food trucks, entertainment, and student programs are executed smoothly and successfully.
Lead the assessment of student involvement initiatives by evaluating student satisfaction, co-curricular learning outcomes, Core Abilities, and Student Journey outcomes to identify opportunities to close equity gaps and enhance student success.
In coordination with the marketing team, develop and execute marketing and communication strategies that promote student involvement programs, services, events, and engagement opportunities through multiple communication platforms.
Oversee and edit content on CVTC’s student facing webpage (Commons) and online learning management system (Canvas).
Coordinate development, implementation, oversight, and assessment of Welcome Day, Orientation, First Year Experience, and transitional programs.
Facilitate a robust offering of programming to meet the targeted needs of special populations with their transition to campus (e.g. transfer, pre-core, online, etc.).
Utilize assessment, data collection, and analysis through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to coordinate and deliver orientation programming.
Collaborate with campus and community partners to foster an inclusive, robust first year student experience.
Develop and maintain relationships with key campus partners and external stakeholders to facilitate successful orientation programming.
Develop and oversee programming and support to ensure successful transition of identified first year students.
Ensure high customer satisfaction with first year programming.
Support the monitoring of allocated student activity fee and grants budgets and contribute to the responsible stewardship of student-generated funds.
Provides leadership and advisement for CVTC’s Student Association (SA) to facilitate active engagement in shared governance opportunities.
Coordinate and support the SA Ambassadors (student employees) by communicating expectations, providing training and guidance, and serving as a resource to promote a positive and effective student employment experience.
Work with SA Ambassadors to lead general assembly meetings; campus open forums that enable the college to connect with CVTC students for input and campus-wide engagement.
Maintain SA bylaws to ensure accurate and thorough guidance for SA proceedings.
Provide SA with leadership opportunities, guidance on College policies, and administrative support on student initiatives.
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of the annual StELAR awards in partnership with the SA Student Ambassadors, recognizing student achievement, leadership, involvement and campus contributions.
Collaborate with IT, Finance, Facilities, Public Safety, Risk Management, Cashier’s office, and other areas of the college to develop procedures that impact student involvement.
Assist in the coordination for Commencement ceremonies.
