About The Position

The Global Credit team within OMERS Capital Markets is seeking a Student Investment Analyst, Global Credit to join the group in Toronto starting in September 2026 for an 8-month term. Global Credit is a key pillar of OMERS investment strategy, providing a diversified and reliable income stream for the OMERS Plan. The Global Credit team, which manages approximately $27 billion, brings together a team of credit investment specialists across sectors, geographies, and parts of the capital structure, with the objective of selecting strong risk-adjusted return investment opportunities across public and private credit markets. As a valued member of the Capital Markets team, you can expect an exciting role in a supportive environment with colleagues and leaders who offer diversity in expertise and experiences. You will have the opportunity to join a driven and collaborative team and support numerous aspects of the investment process, including investment research and the development of analytics. The team is looking to fill two positions in the teams listed below. The roles are focused on supporting new investment due diligence and monitoring existing portfolio activity. Leveraged Finance, which invests primarily in sub-investment grade credit including leveraged loans, high yield bonds, BDCs and private / structured credit transactions. Capital Securities / Liquid Credit, which invests in public and private investment-grade and junior subordinated securities through a variety of structures—including derivatives, cash instruments, and credit default swaps (CDS). The portfolio is broad and spans senior secured and unsecured bonds, AT1s, preferred shares, hybrid bonds, SRTs, and Insurance-linked securities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Economics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering
  • Proven track record of strong academic and extracurricular achievements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with databases, and large datasets (python, SQL, etc)
  • Excellent analytical skills and a high attention to detail
  • Commitment to learning and intellectual curiosity, with a passion for investing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and timelines
  • Strong research, problem-solving and project management skills with a strong work ethic

Responsibilities

  • Performing comprehensive financial/non-financial analysis and risk assessment on existing portfolio investments across the investment grade and non-investment grade universe
  • Assisting in prospective public and private credit investment due diligence including bottom-up and relative value analysis across diversified industries
  • Preparing investment pitch decks and investment committee memos
  • Assisting in the creation and monitoring of Excel, Bloomberg and database maintenance for internal reports
