About The Position

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is seeking a Student Intern to support an assigned department. This role involves providing health education, patient engagement, clerical support, event support, and other assigned duties. The intern will participate in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of services in accordance with contractual and departmental requirements. Specific assignments will vary based on program, grant, and patient demographics, with a focus on providing community-based healthcare services to the medically underserved. FHCSD is an established, non-profit organization with nearly 1,500 employees, dedicated to providing caring, affordable, high-quality health care and support services to all people, with a special commitment to the uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved. Founded in 1970, FHCSD is the largest community clinic provider of health care to the uninsured in Southern California and one of the top 10 largest community clinic organizations in the country.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be full-time students at a local high school, vocational program, job readiness program, or an accredited college or university with at least a 2.0 semester/quarter grade point average (GPA).
  • Pursuing a degree or have completed a program from an accredited university within the last year.
  • Interest in FHCSD’s mission and vision
  • Must be from an approved affiliated program
  • Must meet organizational medical and background clearance requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community medicine and providing culturally competent care to the medically underserved.

  • Intermediate interpersonal and customer service skills.
