About The Position

The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (WAPA) is seeking motivated and enthusiastic interns to join our team across a variety of departments. We are looking for high school seniors and college students who are interested in gaining valuable hands-on experience in the utility industry while contributing to the delivery of essential water and electric services throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands. This internship program is designed to provide students with meaningful work experience, professional development opportunities, and exposure to the operations of a public utility. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to continue their internship from the summer through the academic school year, based on performance, availability, and departmental needs. Internship opportunities may be available in: Finance, Accounting, Customer Service, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Human Resources, Plant Operations, Water Distribution, Transmission & Distribution, Corporate Communications, Digital Media.

Requirements

  • Be a high school senior or currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical program.
  • Maintain good academic standing.
  • Basic understanding of business, utility, engineering, technology, finance, accounting, customer service, or related principles applicable to the assigned department.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of professional workplace standards and ethics.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and effective communication practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills.
  • Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports, presentations, and other work-related documents.
  • Ability to learn new software, systems, and processes quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day departmental operations.
