About The Position

Perform the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regime prescribed by a physician; the transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of respiratory care; proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing; recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities; implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC under CAAHEP or a successor organization.
  • Pursuant to Section 34-27B-11, Code of Alabama (1975), respiratory therapy students may perform limited respiratory therapy procedures as an employee of any healthcare facility while enrolled in a respiratory therapy program accredited by CoARC under CAAHEP or successor organization. The student employee shall be designated by title as a student or trainee and shall work under direct clinical supervision.
  • Upon graduation, must obtain a temporary license to practice until such time as they achieve the CRT or RRT credential. The temporary license for a recent respiratory therapist graduate is valid for six months.
  • Current BLS certification on hire or within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Will need to obtain NRP, PALS, and ALS certification within 30 days of graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
