About The Position

School of Music student workers support the administrative and production needs of the School of Music. Daily functions include supporting the practice rooms, classes, ensembles, concerts, and recitals throughout each semester. This role involves ensuring all University and departmental branding and marketing standards are followed, using knowledge of current graphic design software within Adobe Creative Suite to produce print and digital materials, and assisting with edits and updates to previously created designs. The student will remain abreast of technological advances in the field, identify areas of use in the organization, and stay familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures. A basic understanding and usage of typography, color theory, and principles and elements of design in all created pieces is expected. The role requires the ability to work on several projects at once, sometimes under pressure and tight deadlines, and to complete special projects as assigned by the supervisor. Effective communication through both written and spoken means with supervisor, professors, and students is essential. The student worker will represent and serve the School of Music in a professional, kind, and humble manner, strictly adhering to Liberty University policies and representing the University in an exemplary manner. They will also work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

Requirements

  • Current Liberty University student in good standing with the University.
  • Able to work between 15-20 hours a week (primarily between the hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday).
  • Possess a creative mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to learn.
  • Able to give and receive creative feedback.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Experience in graphic design.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Eligible for Federal Work Study, Work Assistant, or International Work Supplement (depending on position).
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Occasionally required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years work experience in any field preferred
  • Graphic Design major or similar major/minor
  • Photography skills
  • Photoshop/Editing skills
