About The Position

This position is responsible for counseling students and families on financial aid, processing applications, supervising student employees, and recruitment efforts for Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo). The role involves advising on eligibility, application procedures, available programs, educational costs, and financial management strategies. It also includes processing financial aid applications and forms, reviewing documents for accuracy, calculating financial need, and awarding aid. The counselor will also recruit, hire, and supervise student employees, provide training, and approve timesheets. Additionally, the position involves promoting CSU Pueblo through school visits, presentations, and college fairs, and increasing student awareness of financial services policies and procedures. The role also includes updating and maintaining the Financial Aid website.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree conferred by position start
  • Willing and able to work normal hours of operation and additional hours as business necessitates, including some evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience engaging in tactful and efficient customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel current and prospective students and families on all aspects of financial aid, including eligibility, application procedures, available programs, educational costs, and financial management strategies.
  • Process financial aid applications and corrections, including reviewing documents for accuracy, calculating financial need, and determining aid awards.
  • Process loan adjustments, perform ISIR verification, and collaborate regarding Special Circumstance Appeals.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise SFS work study employees, ensuring compliance with policies and providing training for professional growth.
  • Approve student employee timesheets in accordance with payroll deadlines.
  • Promote CSU Pueblo through school visits, presentations, college fairs, and other appropriate appearances.
  • Increase student awareness of Student Financial Services policies and procedures, including the financial aid application process and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Deliver on-campus presentations and coordinate efforts toward awareness of money management and financial literacy.
  • Update and maintain the Financial Aid website to ensure information is current, accurate, and links are functioning properly.
  • Review financial aid/scholarship information on other CSU Pueblo web pages and coordinate updates with page owners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
