About The Position

This position will advise current and prospective students and families on all aspects of financial aid, including eligibility, application procedures, available programs, educational costs, and financial management strategies. The role involves processing financial aid applications and corrections, reviewing documents for accuracy, calculating financial need, awarding aid, and processing loan adjustments. Additionally, the Student Financial Services Counselor will recruit, hire, and supervise student employees, provide training, and approve timesheets. The position also involves promoting CSU Pueblo through school visits and presentations, increasing student awareness of financial aid policies, and coordinating financial literacy initiatives. Ancillary duties include updating and maintaining the Financial Aid website and other related web pages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree conferred by position start
  • Willing and able to work normal hours of operation and additional hours as business necessitates, which may include some evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience engaging in tactful and efficient customer service.
  • Ability to provide evidence of the ability to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.

Responsibilities

  • Advise current and prospective students and families on all aspects of financial aid, including eligibility, application procedures, available financial aid programs, educational costs, and financial management strategies.
  • Counsel students regarding financial aid application review, utilization of Personal Access to Web Services (PAWS), Banner system data updates, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Adhere to federal laws, regulations, and policies concerning federal student aid while counseling students.
  • Process financial aid applications and corrections, including reviewing documents for accuracy, calculating and determining financial need and aid to be awarded, and generating award changes.
  • Process loan adjustments, perform ISIR verification, and collaborate regarding Special Circumstance Appeals.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise SFS work study employees to support operations in the financial aid office.
  • Provide training materials and opportunities to encourage professional growth and skill development for student employees.
  • Approve student employee timesheets in accordance with payroll deadlines.
  • Promote CSU Pueblo in schools located in Colorado, concentrating efforts in the southeastern region through school visits, presentations, college fairs, and other appropriate appearances.
  • Increase current and prospective student awareness of Student Financial Services policies and procedures, including the financial aid application process, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), and their relationship to academic and enrollment policies.
  • Deliver on-campus presentations and coordinate efforts toward awareness of money management and financial literacy.
  • Update and maintain the Financial Aid website to ensure information is current, accurate, and links are working properly.
  • Review financial aid/scholarship information on other CSU Pueblo web pages and coordinate updates and corrections with page owners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
