About The Position

There are positions available in Hardisty and Lloydminster. The Hardisty Terminal Summer Student will support terminal operations by assisting with housekeeping and operational tasks, working in a dynamic environment with physical tasks, equipment interaction, and occasional travel. Key skills include collaboration, communication, and safety focus. The Field Operation Summer Student in the Lloydminster area will focus on pipeline operations, ensuring safe and efficient functionality through tasks like vacation coverage, product quality checks, and equipment monitoring. This is a field-based role requiring travel and a high level of safety awareness, with daily responsibilities including procedure adherence, operator rounds, and process safety management entries.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of the work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
  • Available to begin work in September 2026.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) is considered an asset.
  • Must be enrolled in a Diploma or Undergraduate Program in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, Laboratory Technology, Environmental Science, Health and Safety at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
  • A valid Canadian class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role.
  • Applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver is abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to field teams, including installing, calibrating, and repairing equipment or machinery.
  • Capture and record data from field operations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving operational issues, suggesting improvements, and implementing standard processes.
  • Support Field / Terminal surveillance requirements as needed.
  • Support operations performed maintenance activities, maintenance contractors and vendors by communicating HMGP requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform site inspections, complete area logs and records.
  • Immediately report any hazards, safety incidents, or near misses that occur to ensure a safe work environment.
