About The Position

The Lynn Community Health Center (LCHC) Student Fellowship Program is seeking a Student Fellowship Program Assistant to assist students with their academic needs, provide programmatic support, and help deliver curriculum support. This role involves working closely with high school students to ensure they are successfully engaged in program activities, supporting their growth through all-in-one student support, and helping to promote the fellowship. This position is fully funded by the Atrius Health Equity Foundation Grant. Job Description: The Student Fellowship Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the student fellows enrolled in the fellowship with in-classroom support, program activity support, all-in-one student support, and curriculum delivery support. The Student Fellowship Program Assistant assists the Student Fellowship Program Manager by supporting the goals of the Atrius “Youth as Healthcare Change Agents” Grant by ensuring that qualifying high school students are given a clearly defined opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day operations and requirements of different careers within the field of healthcare.

Requirements

  • Have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle for regular daily usage.
  • Strong knowledge of local community, social service, and cultural resources.
  • History of satisfactory attendance and a positive work attitude.
  • Experience in a Health Care and/or Education setting.
  • Computer/typing Skills; Experience with Microsoft office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring frequent multitasking, flexibility.
  • Ability to work in a start-up environment.
  • Effective Communication skills with multiple disciplines, professionals, and students/parents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and social skills.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, detail oriented, and assertive when necessary.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to openly address and acknowledge issues of addiction, substance use and mental illness.
  • Ability to develop, adapt, and execute outreach plans.
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills
  • Strong knowledge of local community, social service, and cultural resources.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for driving initiatives, finding solutions, and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to work with and relate to individuals (high school students) and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Education or another related field.
  • Has a background in Social Work, as a CHW, as an educator/guidance counselor.

Responsibilities

  • In-Classroom Support: Assist with the delivery of classroom curriculum support such as resume writing, interview preparation, preparing for college tours, and digital literacy training, as well as providing additional academic support as needed. The Student Fellowship Program Assistant will support students’ efforts in meeting program milestones and achieving their learning objectives.
  • All-in-One Student Support: Connect students with community resources and support services to address both academic and personal needs. Provide guidance to help students navigate challenges during the program and serve as a primary point of contact. Act as a liaison between students and their program mentors to ensure strong communication and support.
  • College Tours and Campus Visits: Participate in and assist students during college tours and visits. Provide students with valuable insights into higher education opportunities and help them explore potential college options.
  • Program Promotion and Outreach: Assist in promoting the Student Fellowship Program to local high schools and within the Lynn community. Help to recruit and engage new students and raise awareness of the program's impact and opportunities.
  • General Program Support: Help coordinate and manage program events, meetings, and other activities, including new program orientation execution. Maintain participant, staff, and steering committee confidentiality. Maintain accurate records and documentation of educational activities.
