About The Position

We are looking for an intern who can help FPInnovations support its silvicultural treatment mechanization project in Quebec. This project aims to document the performance (productivity and quality of work) of various silvicultural mechanization systems.

Requirements

  • Student in a Bachelor's degree program in Forest Operations or Forest Management (minimum second year completed)
  • Valid driver's license and availability to travel and perform field work in Quebec

Nice To Haves

  • Enjoy field work (data collection, observation of work techniques, sampling, data compilation, etc.)?
  • Understand various silvicultural practices (site preparation, planting, etc.)?
  • Have a facility for connecting with people and quickly gaining their trust?
  • Enjoy collecting and tracking data to verify and optimize equipment specifications?

Responsibilities

  • Support the FPI research team in preparing field work, observation and data collection, data analysis, and preparation of summary results.
  • Understand the problems faced by silvicultural operations and contribute collaboratively to solutions.
  • Be a trusted collaborator in terms of safety; respect and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
