About The Position

The role of the Development Department Student Worker is to assist in various departments within the Development Division to accomplish their fundraising efforts. This position involves obtaining a working knowledge of strategic engagement opportunities through outreach to connect with university constituents. The specialist will utilize technology and strategies provided by Development to support the objectives of the Division, staying abreast of emerging technologies and processes. The role requires working effectively as a team member and embracing the university's mission. This position interacts with individuals outside the university, including donors, alumni, students, prospective students, parents, churches, and organizations through various communication channels.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be a team player who can effectively and efficiently communicate with both internal and external clients.
  • Strong knowledge of customer care.
  • Ability to articulate and defend the unique Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in various departments within the Development Division to accomplish fundraising efforts.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of strategic engagement opportunities presented by proactive and reactive outreach to connect with constituents.
  • Utilize technology and strategies provided by Development to effectively support the objectives of the Development Division.
  • Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering the university's mission.
  • Interact with donors, alumni, students, prospective students, parents, churches, and organizations through phone calls, emails, written communication, and video conferencing.
