About The Position

Starling Community Services (formerly Lutherwood) is a progressive, not-for-profit health and social service organization that strengthens people's lives by providing mental health, employment, and housing services to more than 22,530 people annually in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program (CSJ) CSJ is an initiative to help young people between the ages of 15 - 30, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience, and abilities they need to transition successfully in the labour market.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of employment/career development through direct or indirect experience and training.
  • Ability to relate well with the public.
  • Strong organizational, communication and administrative skills desired.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and as part of a high performing team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to effectively collaborate with clients and teams.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and various social media and virtual platforms.
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Employment Services team, the Employment Clerk works within all employment programs, assisting staff and clients in support of job search activities and employment-related interventions.
  • Collects, records, maintains, and files data in accordance with program guidelines and Agency policies.
  • The role welcomes and assists a diverse range of job seekers providing information, resources, and support through the Resource Centre.
  • Assists with workshops, job fairs, and information sessions.
  • Works intentionally from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Agency.
