About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking a Student Employment Advisor to join the Office of Financial Aid & Student Employment. This role supports and maintains all functions of the administration and coordination of student employment programs, including federal and state work study and student hourly positions. The advisor must possess a thorough and current working knowledge of Federal Title IV, State of Colorado, and institutional rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure accurate programming and compliance. This position requires a unique level of knowledge of financial student aid (FSA) rules and regulations, and human resource and employment processes. UCCS is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, offering a vibrant community with stunning landscapes, a rich history, arts, and a growing tech scene.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have experience in student employment, human resources and/or financial aid.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in PeopleSoft HCM, PeopleSoft SIS, GradLeaders, or other similar systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line customer service and office management.
  • Manage student employee hiring and orientation.
  • Assist with and support SEAN job postings, updates, and system maintenance.
  • Perform student/staff payroll/leave reporting, and payroll data entry, checking for accuracy and approving information.
  • Conduct HCM/Cherwell data entry, auditing, and approval.
  • Assist with the facilitation of events, trainings, and processes, and communicate them to campus, students, employers, and the community.
  • Assist with the student employment reconciliation process, including payroll expense transfers and funding.
  • Assist in program maintenance for work study, student hourly, human resources, and operational processes.
  • Provide support for special projects.
  • Advise students on available resources.
  • Respond to and authorize student employees’ responses to all email communications.
  • Act as an advocate and liaison between students and UCCS and other outside agencies.
  • Handle customer service inquiries via email and phone.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure a smooth verification process and seek ways to improve the student experience while adhering to federal regulations.
  • Respond to student emails received in the general email account and upload received documents.
  • Participate in staff tabling events to engage with students.
  • Facilitate semesterly job fairs.
  • Conduct trainings each semester as part of the training suite.
  • Collaborate and confer with other campus offices as needed to support student employees.
  • Be a resource for customer service student assistants and be available for specific student requests to see a counselor in a more private setting.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and collaborate with student employees to support the needs of the department.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship of 4-6 student employees (2-3 FTE).
  • Review and update policies and procedures documents as needed.
  • Support monthly off-campus billing process.
