About The Position

The Student Peer Coordinator connects Elliott Student Union (ESU) management with the student employee team. The position assists in coordinating communication, training, scheduling, and engagement efforts to ensure that student staff are informed, supported, and equipped to deliver outstanding service to the campus community. This role promotes student development, fosters an inclusive and positive work environment, and contributes to the operational excellence of the ESU.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled at the University of Central Missouri
  • Must be a Junior or Senior level student - Graduate Student preferred
  • Minimum 3.0 Undergraduate GPA
  • Ability to work with diverse populations of students and staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask with various events and student schedules.
  • Experience/interest in training/mentoring, supervision of student employees, scheduling, and operations.
  • Proficiency with standard office software.
  • Displays commitment to student development, campus engagement, and service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for student employee questions, concerns, and feedback regarding policies and work environment.
  • Facilitate regular communication between ESU leadership and student staff through meetings, newsletters, or digital platforms.
  • Represent student employees in ESU staff meetings and provide input on workforce-related decisions.
  • Coordinate and maintain channels for two-way feedback, including surveys, focus groups, and recognition programs.
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and selection of new student employees.
  • Work with Office Professional to maintain records related to student employment: hiring paperwork, timekeeping, payroll verification, and compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date position descriptions and onboarding materials for all student roles.
  • Organize and co-facilitate onboarding and training sessions for new student workers.
  • Collaborate with ESU administration to design and deliver ongoing training focused on established student learning outcomes along with customer service, leadership, event operations, and safety.
  • Coordinate recognition programs and events (e.g., Student Employee of the Month, end-of-semester celebration).
  • Gather and analyze feedback from student employees and supervisors to assess program effectiveness.
  • Provide reports and recommendations to ESU leadership on student employee trends, retention, and engagement.
  • Participate in strategic planning to improve student employment outcomes and the overall student experience.
