About The Position

This is a part-time student employee position within the Admissions Division of Student Development. The role reports to the Student Recruitment Coordinator and is classified as non-exempt, with a hiring range of $15.00 per hour. The position is eligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS). The student employee will be responsible for conducting tours for prospective students and parents, assisting at the Admissions front desk, preparing mailings, filing records, preparing forms for scanning, updating student records, performing copying and scanning tasks, distributing mail, delivering materials, and assisting with campus events organized by Admissions. The position requires maintaining satisfactory academic progress, being enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at JJC, maintaining confidentiality, being self-motivated and dependable, and possessing basic computer skills. The ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence, is also essential.

Requirements

  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress (minimum 2.0 GPA, not on academic probation, and in good standing at JJC).
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at JJC during fall/spring semester.

  • Basic computer and data entry experience and knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tours to prospective students and parents.
  • Assist at the Admissions front desk as needed, including answering phones and greeting customers.
  • Assemble packets for mailing as needed.
  • Alphabetizing and filing of admissions records.
  • Preparation of forms for scanning.
  • Assist in the maintenance and updating of student records. (high school transcripts and ACT scores)
  • Photocopy, scanning, and fax documents as requested.
  • Assist with the distribution of daily mail.
  • Deliver materials to internal departments as requested.
  • Assist in campus events organized by Admissions. Such as College Fair and Discover JJC.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
