About The Position

This is a temporary, 4-month student opportunity from January to April 2027, available to students graduating in April 2027 or later. The role focuses on supporting the health care needs of Canadians by managing disability claims. The Group Life & Disability team is responsible for determining eligibility for disability benefits, implementing interventions for recovery and return to work, and supporting clients during their absence and return to work period.

Responsibilities

  • Support Disability Case Managers in managing disability claims by applying knowledge of medical concepts.
  • Conduct telephone interviews to gather information about absences and support needed for return to work planning.
  • Engage clients through verbal and written communication to understand the medical, social, and personal aspects of their workplace absence.
  • Identify and assess medical and non-medical factors influencing disability, functional capabilities, restrictions, and limitations to determine necessary support for return to work.
  • Collaborate with Disability Case Managers to develop and maintain outcome-focused case management plans for plan members' return to work.
