About The Position

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Access Student Assistant for the Disability Access Services for Disability Access Services at Oregon State University (OSU). An Access Assistant (AA) is a student employee hired by DAS to assist a student with disabilities to perform tasks that are a required component of the course. AAs will only help conduct course-related procedures that the student is unable to complete due to their disability. AAs, under the direction of the DAS student, may assist with the manipulation of lab materials and with the completion of in-class assignments. AAs may also assist the student with navigating the classroom/lab environment. AA will also take notes for the student when needed. All information about the actual course and lab processes and procedures are the student’s responsibility. Requirements

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program; Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term; Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term; Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term; Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term).
  • Excellent clear communication skills.
  • Availability to work during the time requested.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with individuals who are low vision/Blind or individuals with limited fine motor skills.
  • Intermediate Spanish.

Responsibilities
