The Student Coach (SC) is a near-peer college mentor position designed for students who are passionate about making a meaningful impact in schools and communities. Student Coaches are placed directly inside partner schools where they serve as positive role models, mentors, and leaders who support student success through relationship-building, engagement, and leadership development. The role focuses on helping students remain engaged in school, overcome barriers to success, and develop the confidence, skills, and mindset needed for long-term success. Student Coaches actively build relationships with students, support academic engagement, and assist in delivering core program experiences, including mentoring, leadership programming, and student engagement events aligned with the mission of the N.A.C. Student Coaches play a vital role in creating a supportive school environment where students feel seen, valued, and empowered. Through consistent presence, mentorship, and leadership, Student Coaches directly contribute to improving student engagement, building confidence, and helping students stay on track for success in school and beyond.
