About The Position

The Department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) supports a dynamic community of students, faculty, and staff engaged in film, television, media studies, and digital storytelling. Our administrative team helps keep the department running smoothly by supporting daily operations, events, communications, and student services. The Student Administrative Associate supports the daily operations of the Department of Radio-Television-Film by providing front-office, administrative, and organizational support. This position serves as a key point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while assisting with departmental communications, record-keeping, inventory management, event support, and office operations. The role helps ensure the department functions efficiently and that faculty, staff, and students receive timely and professional assistance.

Requirements

  • Current UT Austin student eligible for student employment (Work-Study preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience maintaining records, entering data, and working with spreadsheets
  • Exceptional accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Dependable, professional, and punctual
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Able to work independently while exercising sound judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an office, administrative, reception, or customer-facing role
  • Experience monitoring and responding to shared email inboxes
  • Familiarity with Box, Microsoft Teams, or similar collaboration platforms
  • Experience supporting events, meetings, or special projects

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to RTF Department and RTF Graduate email accounts
  • Answer department phones and take messages as needed
  • Assist with preparing payment and reimbursement documentation
  • Support inventory tracking and annual inventory projects
  • Maintain spreadsheets and departmental records
  • Assist with data entry and document organization
  • Organize digital files and maintain Box folders
  • Keep office, reception, and common spaces clean and organized
  • Monitor and restock office supplies
  • Assist with departmental events and special projects as needed
  • Provide general administrative and front-office support
  • Perform other duties as assigned
