Student Associate Q-Podcast Communications, Work-study preferred, Part-Time
About The Position
The Department of Physics at The University of Texas at Austin, through its TQI initiative, is seeking a motivated and creative student to support science communication efforts. This position will focus on managing and updating TQI’s podcast social media platforms, writing introductions to episodes, creating visual thumbnails to accompany podcast episodes, and communicating with TQI science communicators. The College of Natural Sciences strives to foster a work environment that enables all employees to contribute at the highest possible level to support the mission of the University.
Requirements
- Current junior or senior majoring in science, engineering, or a related field
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to explain scientific topics to a broad audience
- Familiarity with social media platforms and audio/video streaming platforms (YouTube, Spotify, etc.)
- Creative, detail-oriented, and organized, with an ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Nice To Haves
- Work-study preferred
- Experience in graphic design, video editing, or digital content creation is a plus
Responsibilities
- Update and maintain TQI and affiliated directors’ group websites with fresh content, announcements, and resources
- Draft short, engaging news articles and features highlighting TQI projects, events, and faculty/student accomplishments
- Assist in creating visual and multimedia content to enhance online communication efforts
- Collaborate with TQI staff and directors to develop and implement communication strategies
