About The Position

The Multimedia Language Center (MLC) for the Department of World Languages & Literatures is seeking a Student Assistant. This role offers valuable technical experience in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, opportunities to improve presentation skills, and the chance to work in a diverse environment interacting with different cultures. The MLC provides resources to students studying world languages and is an integral part of the department. The Student Assistant will perform various duties and responsibilities, with a high level of interaction with students, faculty, and staff, assisting them with the use of equipment and resources.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
  • Follow oral instructions.
  • Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Admission or registration as a CSU student. As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.
  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate). International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate).
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Social Security Card.

  • Maintain a preferred 2.7 G.P.A. or greater.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Multimedia Language Center with day-to-day office operations.
  • Provide basic & general office support, answer phone/take messages, schedule appointments, perform room/equipment clean up, open and/or close lab.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as software review, assist with installing iPad apps, performing software updates, etc.
  • May require evening hours and weekends. A schedule will be arranged with the student prior to selection.
  • If studying art or interested in graphic design/advertising, the position may include assisting with marketing, advertising, and graphic design materials for the Department.
