About The Position

The Student Assistant will be part of a dynamic team of technology professionals actively supporting over 1,200 computers and laptops and 150+ software applications for the University Libraries.

Requirements

Current University of Alabama undergraduate student.
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Demonstrated customer service skills.
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding.
Some technical background.
Knowledgeable of computer operating systems.
Knowledgeable of basic computer components.
Able to install software.
Effective time management skills.
Strong desire to learn technology skills.
Must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment.
Must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters.
Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment.
Final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.

Nice To Haves

Majoring/Minoring in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar field.
Experience with Windows and Apple Operating Systems.
Familiarity with basic computer hardware/software troubleshooting, specifically software deployed by The University of Alabama.
