About The Position

The Auburn University Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures (WLLC) is seeking a creative, energetic, and motivated student employee to join our team as a Social Media and Events Student Assistant. This position offers an excellent opportunity for students interested in social media, content creation, event planning, communications, student engagement, international studies, languages, or related fields to gain hands-on experience while helping build a vibrant community within our department. As part of a dynamic academic department dedicated to global learning, intercultural understanding, and language education, you will help create meaningful digital content that showcases student achievements, study abroad experiences, cultural events, faculty accomplishments, and the impact of language learning. You will also contribute to planning and promoting student-centered programs that connect the Auburn community with languages and cultures from around the world. While social media and event support are key aspects of this position, student assistants also play an important role in helping the department operate smoothly through administrative and front desk support. This position is ideal for students interested in communications, marketing, event planning, international studies, language learning, higher education, or community engagement. Students will have opportunities to build a professional portfolio through social media campaigns, photography, graphic design, event promotion, and campus outreach initiatives.

Requirements

  • Enrolled student at Auburn University
  • Knowledge of various social media platforms, content creation, and Adobe Creative Suite all strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Create authentic and engaging digital content (photos, videos, reels, stories, and graphics) for departmental social media platforms.
  • Capture photos and video at departmental events, guest lectures, language tables, performances, and cultural celebrations.
  • Highlight student experiences, study abroad programs, alumni success stories, faculty achievements, and language-learning opportunities.
  • Assist in maintaining a consistent and welcoming presence across departmental social media channels.
  • Monitor trends and contribute ideas for increasing audience engagement and visibility.
  • Brainstorm, plan, and support student events that promote language learning, cultural exchange, and community building.
