About The Position

UW Medicine IT Services is seeking a Student Assistant - SharePoint Migration Support team member to assist with the migration of content from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Online. This position will help ensure information is successfully transitioned to UW Medicine's modern collaboration platform while supporting site owners and project team members throughout the migration process. The position is temporary, with a duration from now through 12/31/2026, and may extend. It requires up to 19.5 hours per week while classes are in session, with flexible hours that can be scheduled around academic commitments. The core hours for UW Medicine ITS are 08:00 – 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday. UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) supports all of UW Medicine's institutions, including Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus, UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus, Valley Medical Center, UW Medicine Primary Care, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine, and Airlift Northwest. ITS is responsible for the support and maintenance of infrastructure and applications, as well as the implementation of new services and applications to further the UW Medicine mission.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled UW Student who meets enrollment eligibility requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with SharePoint
  • Interest in information technology, business systems, information management, or related fields
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to review and manage large volumes of electronic documents and information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and business processes

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the migration of documents, lists, libraries, and site content from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Online
  • Review and organize existing SharePoint content to support migration readiness and data cleanup efforts
  • Help validate migrated content by performing quality assurance checks and documenting issues
  • Support SharePoint site owners with content inventory, permissions reviews, and migration-related tasks
  • Create and maintain documentation, guides, and job aids for migration processes and SharePoint Online features
  • Track migration activities, outcomes, and issues using project management and reporting tools
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with UW Medicine ITS staff on migration planning and execution
  • Provide general administrative and project support related to SharePoint modernization initiatives
