The Yotie Oso Undergraduate Retention & Success (YOURS) AANHPI Student Achievement Program is a culturally responsive student success initiative at California State University, San Bernardino. YOURS supports the academic achievement, personal development, career readiness, cultural connection, and overall well-being of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) students, particularly those who are underserved or the first in their families to attend college. The Student Assistant, Peer Mentor/Advocate is a student leadership position that helps YOURS participants successfully navigate college, develop a sense of belonging, connect with campus resources, and work toward their academic and personal goals. Student Assistant, Peer Mentors/Advocates build supportive relationships with students through individual mentoring, proactive outreach, group activities, workshops, cultural programming, and referrals to appropriate campus services. Student Assistant, Peer Mentors/Advocates are not academic advisors, counselors, or mental-health professionals. They serve as trained, approachable peers who listen, share relevant experiences and strategies, help students understand their options, and connect them with professional support when needed. This position is an excellent opportunity for students interested in mentoring, education, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, student affairs, cultural studies, community engagement, or related fields.
