About The Position

The Office of Decision Support empowers university leadership through data-informed insights, strategic analysis, and performance reporting. Our work supports academic planning, institutional research, accreditation, and long-term strategy — helping USF make smarter, evidence-based decisions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Student Assistant to join our Student Success Research & Analytics team. This role is ideal for a student with a strong interest in data analysis and data visualization. Working closely with ODS analysts and leadership, you will contribute to projects that directly support student success initiatives across USF. This is a hands-on opportunity to build real-world experience with tools like SQL, Power BI, Copilot, Excel, and SAS, while also learning the strategic and analytical frameworks that guide institutional decision-making.

Requirements

Currently an enrolled student at USF.
Must be enrolled half time for the semester appointed (6 credits for undergraduate students and 5 credits for graduate students).
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, Power Query, data formatting)
Experience with analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, SAS, R)
Experience with data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and analytical techniques
Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

Collect, clean, and analyze data related to student success metrics
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI, Excel, and other AI tools such as Copilot
Support data documentation and reporting processes using tools such as Word, Jira, and Confluence
Contribute to project organization and create and maintain documentation
