About The Position

Under the supervision of the Manager or Supervisor, this role supports the daily operations of the sponsoring business unit / department by performing a variety of administrative, operational and project-based tasks. This position allows college students to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience in a professional business environment, develop workplace skills and prepare them for future professional roles.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled as a student in good standing in a two- or four-year degree program at an accredited college or university in Hawaii.
  • One year of part-time work or volunteer experience, internship, or academic experience such as: school / student activities or leadership roles, tutoring / mentoring.
  • Proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage tasks and time effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor, dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • As a Bank of Hawaii employee, you ensure (or assist with ensuring) compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support including data entry, document preparation, and scheduling.
  • Maintains and organizes digital and/or physical filing systems.
  • Assist with event planning, logistics, and coordination for corporate functions.
  • Conducts research and compile information for departmental reports or special projects.
  • Operates standard office equipment (printers, copiers, scanners).
  • Greet and assist clients, answer questions and provide information.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special assignments.
  • Upholds confidentiality and professionalism in all tasks.
  • May provide temporary coverage during staff absences, performing tasks that may differ from regular duties.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
