About The Position

The School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, is seeking student employees to support Dr. Zuo as an undergraduate assistant on an NSF project investigating laser-induced birefringence in glass. The students will collaborate weekly with a graduate student on research activities and project advancement. Dr. Zuo will provide biweekly progress reviews, guidance, and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM.
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (audit hours do not count).
  • If Work Study, must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Nice To Haves

  • Current student in the Mechanical Engineering program.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research activities related to laser-induced birefringence in glass.
  • Work closely with a graduate student on a weekly basis.
  • Make progress on the NSF project.
  • Attend biweekly meetings with Dr. Zuo for progress review, guidance, and mentorship.
