About The Position

The Student Admission Specialist plays a key role in recruiting and enrolling undergraduate students for The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at ASU. In this dynamic, student-facing role, the position delivers engaging presentations, participates in strategic outreach and calling campaigns, and responds to inquiries from prospective and admitted students. The Student Admission Specialist represents The College at recruitment and yield events—on campus, virtually, and occasionally off campus—communicating the College’s unique strengths, opportunities, and value to students and their families. The Student Admissions Specialist actively builds and sustains meaningful relationships with admitted students and their families through a variety of communication channels, including phone, email, text, and in-person and virtual interactions. The position provides clear, accurate guidance on academic programs, enrollment processes, and university policies, helping ensure a successful transition into The College. This role requires developing a strong, working knowledge of ASU and college-specific resources, programs, and procedures, while serving as a trusted point of contact. Reporting to the Director of New Student Outreach and Recruitment, the Student Admission Specialist works under general supervision while collaborating closely with Student Success and Academic Advising teams on cross-functional initiatives. The role partners with Admission Services to support recruitment events and coordinated outreach efforts across the university.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Proactive recruitment, customer service, or sales experience.
  • Experience building affinity through persuasive written and oral communication, including public speaking and one-on-one conversations in which not only persuasion but also accuracy are important.
  • Experience interpreting complex policies, procedures and other information, accurately applying those interpretations in a customer service setting.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Salesforce CRM or other student information/constituent relationship management systems.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across various departments as well as with various populations and groups.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts college information presentations to prospective and admitted students and their families, and also conducts individual meetings with prospects and admits.
  • Conducts telephone calling campaigns and other outreach to admitted students with professionalism to guide them toward enrollment, answering questions and responding to inquiries accurately, persuasively, and in a timely manner.
  • Represents The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at recruitment and yield events held on campus, off-campus and virtually; participating in the planning and coordination of events as needed.
  • Develops and maintains recruitment relationships with admitted students and their families through a variety of communication methods including regular phone calls, emails, text messaging, and in-person and virtual interactions; accurately interpreting and communicating program benefits and enrollment procedures and policies to ensure a seamless transition to The College, building a strong working knowledge of the policies, procedures, programming and resources of The College and ASU.
  • Utilizes Salesforce CRM to record interactions, email communication, and visits with prospective and admitted students, to monitor their progress toward enrollment, and to follow-up with students in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes PeopleSoft and other information systems to interpret, confirm, and communicate information about students and programs with accuracy.
  • Completes most duties under general supervision, taking initiative and exercising his or her own discretion and expertise when completing recurring tasks to meet goals set forth by the supervisor, receiving more detailed instructions from supervisor or collaborating with colleagues when completing complex, new, or unusual tasks, exercising professional judgment to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Performs related administrative functions as required.
