About The Position

Bard High School Early College Bronx is a tuition-free public school that allows students to complete a rigorous high school education while earning up to 60 college credits and an Associate in Arts degree from Bard College. Through an interdisciplinary liberal arts and sciences curriculum, academic support, and student-centered programming, the school prepares students for continued academic, professional, and civic engagement. Bard High School Early College Bronx seeks a highly organized, collaborative, and student-centered professional to serve as the Student Activities Coordinator. The Coordinator will oversee student activities, clubs, school-wide events, senior programming, ninth-grade trips, and new student orientation. The position will also support Smart Scholars initiatives, including peer mentorship and the Summer Scholars program. Working closely with students, faculty, school leadership, families, and community partners, the Coordinator will help create an inclusive and engaging school environment that promotes student leadership, belonging, and participation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends
  • Experience working with high school or college-age students
  • Experience coordinating student activities, events, youth programs, clubs, or extracurricular programming
  • Strong organizational, project-management, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, deadlines, and logistical responsibilities
  • Ability to manage budgets and maintain accurate financial records
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and supporting students from historically underserved communities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a school-based environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating school events, student trips, orientations, mentorship programs, or summer youth programming.
  • Experience working with student leaders, mentors, interns, or volunteers.
  • Experience working with colleges, nonprofit organizations, employers, or other community partners.
  • Familiarity with New York City public schools, early-college programs, or urban education settings.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate student clubs, extracurricular activities, the annual club fair, and opportunities for student leadership and engagement.
  • Manage the student activities budget, funding for clubs and fundraising monies
  • Plan and implement school-wide events, including talent shows, career-focused programs, international or cultural events, student celebrations, and other community-building activities.
  • Support senior activities, ninth-grade trips, and new student orientation, including scheduling, transportation, permissions, staffing, student communication, and family outreach.
  • Support Smart Scholars programming, including peer mentorship, and Summer Scholars.
  • Maintain program calendars, participation records, event materials, and other administrative documentation.
  • Gather feedback and participation data to evaluate programming and support continuous improvement.
  • Perform other related responsibilities that support student engagement and the broader school community.
