About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Structures Lab Test Engineering Manager to join their Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) team in Tukwila, WA. This manager will oversee day-to-day Structures Lab Test operations, supporting multiple Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) and Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) development and sustaining programs. The role involves defining strategies and execution plans for the team and lab to meet future testing needs of program partners. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and functional excellence is required to drive efficiency and schedule performance. The position also emphasizes people development, understanding their importance to success, and fostering a culture of seeking, speaking, and listening.

Requirements

  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership"
  • Experience working with and presenting to technical, management and executive level audiences
  • Experience in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • 3+ years of experience leading and/or managing a team
  • 3+ years of experience in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment
  • Technical project/program management experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Structures Test & Materials Verification
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers, and lead process improvements
  • Manage capital investment projects and long-range planning for capital investments into the lab
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Develop and engage employees through coaching, mentoring, and performance management, as well as identifying growth opportunities and assignments that best fit the needs of the individual and the company
