The Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE) department executes both military and commercial repair design and repairs substantiations for engines. We create and improve ASE business and repair development tools. We design, develop, and qualify military repair tooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 2 years of engineering experience or an advanced degree

Nice To Haves

  • Background in structural analysis or mechanical design.
  • Working knowledge of ANSYS or other FEA software.
  • Awareness of manufacturing repair processes experience a plus.
  • Experience using P&W fatigue and fracture mechanics lifing systems.
  • Experience with fatigue and fracture analysis is preferred.
  • Primary practitioner for structural analysis memos (SAMs).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to hot and cold section commercial engine rotating components.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and life requirements.
  • Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable.
  • Analysis may include both classical methods and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for strength, stress, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
  • Coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods, plus document and present results.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
