About The Position

The Structures and Interiors Innovation Engineer operates within the Concept and Pre-Program Engineering organization, supporting the Structures and Interiors Innovation function. This role is responsible for leading advanced engineering initiatives that integrate Body-in-White (BIW), Structures, and Interior systems, with a focus on developing scalable, production-feasible innovations and features for Stellantis. The position serves as project leader, technical pilot, and single-point engineering authority for innovation programs spanning upper body, structures, greenhouse, passenger compartment, rear shelf, rear compartment, exteriors, glazing, seating, cockpit, and restraint systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum 6 years of engineering experience, including: ≥4 years in BIW Structures design/development and/or Interior Systems release engineering
  • Demonstrated track record of: Increasing technical responsibility and leadership in engineering programs, Driving engineering solutions from concept to implementation, Mentoring and developing technical talent
  • Strong capability in: Technical communication (written and verbal), Analytical and experience-based problem solving, Cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced engineering environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering
  • DFSS Green Belt (or equivalent structured problem-solving certification)
  • Experience supporting vehicle programs, in-plant activities, or launches
  • Strong understanding of: Federal Safety Regulations and third-party performance metrics, BIW, Structures and Interiors performance attributes (crash, durability, NVH, packaging), System-level trade-offs and structural optimization methodologies
  • Working knowledge of CAE disciplines (impact, durability, NVH) and interpretation of simulation results
  • Broad materials experience including: Advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), aluminum, magnesium and titanium, Advanced Composites, SMC, Carbon Fiber
  • Release engineering experience across: BIW / Structures, Exteriors, Interiors, Seating, Cockpit systems
  • Familiarity with: AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Copilot, knowledge-based systems, KBE), Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) applications

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced innovation projects from concept definition through feasibility and proof-of-concept (POC) validation, with clear technical ownership
  • Serve as the single-point technical interface for cross-functional teams (design, CAE, manufacturing, suppliers)
  • Develop and mature integrated Structures–Interiors solutions that deliver measurable improvements in: Mass reduction / lightweighting, Cost and investment efficiency, Manufacturing feasibility and complexity reduction, Product performance (NVH, durability, crash, usability)
  • Apply deep expertise in BIW Structures and Interior Systems to resolve complex engineering problems and enable differentiated vehicle features
  • Drive multi-material strategies (steel, aluminum, magnesium, composites), advanced manufacturing technologies (e.g., additive manufacturing, forming, joining) and Interiors integration of Seats, Instrument Panel, Cockpit, Consoles and Restraints.
  • Translate innovation concepts into validated engineering-ready architectures and package solutions
  • Support Technology Roadmap development for Structures and Interiors in alignment with Discipline Manager - Advanced Structures and Interiors leadership and present to Technical Executives.
  • Interface with global teams and suppliers to ensure technical alignment and execution feasibility
  • Lead and contribute to early-stage CAD, architecture studies, and system-level trade-off analyses
