About The Position

The Rollins Center for Language & Literacy at the Atlanta Speech School is seeking a Structured Literacy Professional Learning (SLPL) Facilitator. This role supports system-wide implementation of structured literacy practices in partnership with districts. The facilitator will provide training and coaching to leaders and educators, focusing on areas such as leader knowledge, educator professional learning, instructional coaching, culturally responsive pedagogy, high-quality instructional materials, data and assessment, and MTSS and intervention. The support is hybrid, involving both in-person and remote work. The facilitator will also present at conferences, facilitate online community groups, and collaborate on content creation for Cox Campus, an online platform dedicated to making literacy education accessible.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Speech Language Pathology, Early Childhood Education, Reading, Curriculum and Instruction or a related field
  • First Aid certification
  • Structured Literacy Program certification
  • Dyslexia Endorsement
  • 10+ years of prior work-related experience in K-3rd educational programs and/or programs for language and literacy
  • Experience with implementing data-driven instruction methods and progress monitoring of child outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills
  • Action-oriented, collaborative, flexible, and innovative approach to coaching and mentoring
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to understand the comprehensive language and literacy issues of young children in a variety of settings

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Training in at least one structured literacy program (e.g., OG, LETRS, Wilson)
  • School-based teacher training and coaching experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with district partners to support system-wide implementation of structured literacy practices.
  • Supports implementation through training district- and school-based leaders on best practices in structured literacy.
  • Coaches district- and school-based leaders on structured literacy practices that lead to sustained classroom implementation.
  • Provides data consultation on diagnostics and progress monitoring to support classroom instruction.
  • Uses coaching and student data to plan effective implementation.
  • Presents structured literacy content at local and national conferences.
  • Facilitates online Cox Campus community groups.
  • Collaborates with the Cox Campus content team to create/revise structured literacy content.
  • Navigates the features and elements of Cox Campus (including group functions, resource library, and reporting functions).
  • Utilizes Rollins’ coaching implementation framework to support leader knowledge and application of structured literacy practices.
  • Builds relationships with district and school-based leaders and educators.
  • Collaborates with district and school-based leaders to create an implementation plan to improve current literacy practices.
  • Supports school leaders and coaches in conducting and administering professional development activities (including redelivery presentations for educators).
  • Implements the coaching cycle to model effective instructional strategies and clearly explain evidence-based language and literacy practices.
  • Supports through guided practice opportunities.
  • Observes instructional practice through classroom observations to identify strengths, areas for growth, and language and literacy priorities.
  • Engages partners in reflective debrief conversations throughout the coaching cycle and determines next steps.
  • Supports district and school-level leaders in creating plans for implementation sustainability.
  • Serves as liaison between Rollins Center evaluation specialist and client centers or schools.
  • Reviews yearly literacy data and provides recommendations to organizational leadership teams for improving literacy outcomes.
  • Creates implementation progress reports to share with partner districts.
  • Facilitates and designs structured literacy professional development for educators and education leaders, ensuring best practices for adult learning theory are present.
  • Promotes research and evidence-based practices for educators.
  • Analyzes and compares existing curriculum practices with best practices.
  • Creates professional learning materials, engagement activities, and supporting resources for professional development sessions.
  • Assists in data collection for progress monitoring and needs assessments.
  • Delivers training sessions on interpreting student and teacher data to inform instruction, particularly progress monitoring data.
  • Stays current on the latest research and best practices in the field of education, professional development, curriculum, and instruction.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development related to structured literacy, education, and instructional coaching.
