About The Position

Performs mechanical work associated with the repair and maintenance of water control structures and gates, navigation locks, and field station buildings and facilities. Performs overhauls on water control gates, gearboxes and small pumps. Work experience performing hydraulic maintenance, repair or installations of large hydraulic cylinders and associated controls preferred. Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Must be able to read and follow job specifications, blueprints and diagrams to perform proper preventive maintenance of manual and automated systems, as well as pressure washing and painting. Must be able to identify alignment issues of cable and sheave systems and perform corrective measures. Perform visual inspections of wire rope systems identifying any deficiencies and perform corrective measures. Utilize proper methods of applying oils and greases to machinery at predetermined intervals to supply lubrication to bearing and mechanical parts. This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience in structure and facility maintenance or mechanical repair
  • Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without restrictions to operate vehicle equipped with airbrakes and manual transmission.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in Forklift Operations (re-evaluation every year)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED (re-certification every two years).

  • Work experience performing hydraulic maintenance, repair or installations of large hydraulic cylinders and associated controls preferred.

Benefits

  • The hiring range for this position is $50,190.40 to 57,241.40 (based on education and years of relevant work experience).
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • If selected candidate does not currently possess CDL, the District will provide 2 months from date of hire to obtain CDL Learner's Permit and 6 months to obtain CDL.
  • District is willing to pay cost of CDL training program.
