About The Position

HUTCO, Inc. is accepting applications for a Flux Core and Stick Structural Welder in Bourg, Louisiana. The role involves welding in a shipyard and requires at least three years of shipyard welding experience. Candidates must pass a hands-on skills test, a drug test, and E-Verify. Employees must provide and wear a hard hat, steel-toe safety boots, safety glasses, and gloves.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of welding experience in shipyards.
• Pass a hands-on skills test.

• Provide and use a hard hat, steel-toe safety boots, safety glasses, and gloves.
• Ability to perform the role’s physical functions, including working in confined spaces, handling specified loads, traversing elevated and uneven surfaces, and stooping, squatting, twisting, kneeling, lifting, and reaching.

Responsibilities

• Perform Structural Welder job functions in accordance with applicable regulations and generally observed safety practices.
• Use the equipment, work processes, and techniques required for the role.
• Enter and move through manholes to work in internally confined spaces.
• Manipulate and transport loads up to 50 pounds over distances of up to 200 feet approximately 1 to 6 times per eight-hour shift, and occasionally handle loads of 75 pounds.
• Operate machines and tools essential to the Structural Welder position.
• Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights, and negotiate uneven surfaces and height differences between dock and vessel.
• Perform work involving stooping, squatting, twisting, kneeling, lifting, and reaching.
