About The Position

Mid-States Companies fabricates, assembles, and constructs equipment for grain handling, food processing, renewable energy, commercial building, and heavy industrial projects nationwide. The Structural Welder fits, lays out, welds, and fabricates structural and miscellaneous steel from shop drawings and instructions, following Mid-States WPS standards and AWS D1.1 code. This hands-on role is approximately 90% welding and fitting and 5% quality documentation, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and craftsmanship. The position also supports continuous improvement in shop workflow and offers opportunities to develop skills and take on more responsibility.

Requirements

• Strong GMAW skills in all positions.
• Solid structural layout and fitting background.
• Ability to read drawings and welding symbols and use measuring tools.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 standards.
• Detail-oriented, safety-first mindset and tenacity to work through difficult problems.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, torches, and plasma cutters.

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of fabrication or welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fit and weld structural and miscellaneous steel.
• Read shop drawings and welding symbols and apply shop math, including fractions, decimals, and geometry.
• Operate overhead cranes and maintain tools and equipment.
• Complete quality checks and required documentation.
• Contribute ideas to improve shop workflow.
• Conduct routine inspections of cranes, rigging, and hoists.
