About The Position

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. is seeking Structural Welders for a project in Durham, North Carolina. The role involves planning and carrying out welding and assembly work, fitting and securing components, repairing products, and recognizing hazardous conditions. Certification at one or more levels is required. Benefits and paid time off consideration begins after three months.

Requirements

Certification at one or more levels is required.
Skilled in written and verbal communication.
Must be able to effectively use required personal protective equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to safely access property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, elevated positions, and confined spaces.
Must be able to safely operate the equipment and tools involved.
Must be capable of standing for long periods, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts and workboats, and in awkward body positions.
Must be able to perform strenuous physical demands associated with the essential functions.

Responsibilities

Select equipment and plan layouts, assembly, and welding based on knowledge of metal properties, machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them in position for welding.
Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
Assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using a cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.
Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions and situations.
Complete required safety and general job training.
Follow SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures.
