About The Position

Plan, lay out, weld, install, and repair structural steel products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. The role involves setting up and operating welding equipment, welding components to specified procedures, and making repairs to welds. The position is classified as intermediate level.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
• Must possess working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
• Must have the required tools.
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, a fit-for-duty medical examination, and a background check.
• Able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across a construction or industrial site, as required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
• Preheat and weld metal components as specified by blueprints, welding symbols, job specifications, or welding procedures.
• Weld using FCAW-S, FCAW-G, TGAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW processes.
• Operate air arc gougers, grinders, stress-relieving machines, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
• Make welding repairs and repair substandard welds.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules, and perform other duties as required.
