About The Position

Plan, lay out, weld, install, and repair structural steel products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines and related equipment according to job specifications and welding procedures. Work takes place on a construction or industrial site and may involve irregular hours, weekends, overtime, holidays, and challenging physical and environmental conditions.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
• Must possess working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
• Must have required tools.
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, a fit-for-duty medical assessment, and a background check.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including moving around a construction or industrial site; standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; climbing and maintaining balance on formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; working in confined, cluttered, or uneven spaces; and potentially moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
• Preheat and weld metal components according to blueprints, welding symbols, job specifications, or welding procedures.
• Weld using FCAW-S, FCAW-G, TGAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW processes.
• Operate air arc gougers, grinders, stress-relieving machines, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
• Make welding repairs and repair substandard welds.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules and perform other duties as required.
