About The Position

Plan, lay out, weld, install, and repair structural steel products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines and related equipment according to job specifications and welding procedures. The position works in a construction or industrial environment and may involve irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
• Working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
• Must have required tools.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including moving around a construction or industrial site; standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; climbing and maintaining balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; working in confined, cluttered, uneven, noisy, and dusty areas; and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and Fit for Duty.

Responsibilities

• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
• Preheat and weld metal components as specified by blueprints, welding symbols, job specifications, or welding procedures.
• Weld using FCAW-S, FCAW-G, TGAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW processes.
• Operate an air arc gouger, grinder, stress relieving machine, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
• Make welding repairs and repair substandard welds.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules, and perform other duties as required.
