About The Position

This role requires a skilled Structural Welder Journey to perform welding tasks and assist in component installation. The position involves applying technical knowledge and practical welding skills, ensuring proper fit-up and alignment of components. Familiarity with SMAW and GTAW processes, along with the associated equipment, is essential. The welder will be responsible for verifying the position of metal components, preparing surfaces for welding, and performing clean-up using various tools. A key aspect of the role includes understanding weld acceptance criteria and conducting front-line examinations of welding work, all while strictly adhering to safety procedures.

Requirements

Must possess the necessary skill sets to pass the pre-employment welding examination.
Familiarity with the equipment required to perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes.
Familiarity with weld acceptance criteria.
Ability to utilize conventional tools for preparation of welding and clean up (Grinders, buffers, file, chipping hammer, etc.).
Ability to verify position of metal components in assembly, using straight edge, combination square, calipers, and rule.
Ability to tack-weld components to secure in position for welding.
Adherence to all safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Pass the pre-employment welding examination.
Apply technical knowledge and practical welding skills.
Assist in component installation, fit-up, and alignment.
Utilize equipment for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes.
Verify position of metal components in assembly using measuring tools.
Use conventional tools for preparation of welding and clean up (e.g., grinders, buffers, file, chipping hammer).
Tack-weld components to secure them in position for welding.
Understand and apply weld acceptance criteria.
Perform front-line examination of welding work performed.
Adhere to all safety procedures.
