About The Position

Structural Supervisor oversees structural repair, fabrication, and installation activities in support of ship repair and modernization projects. This role is responsible for leading production crews, coordinating daily work assignments, maintaining schedule performance, and ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with customer and quality requirements. Work is performed in active shipyard environments supporting Navy and commercial vessel repair operations. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand, with the potential for long-term placement or permanent hire with select clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of shipyard structural experience with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ship repair, steel fabrication, structural fitting, and marine construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work packages.
  • Experience coordinating multiple work assignments and managing production schedules.
  • Working knowledge of shipyard safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and production processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, customers, subcontractors, and production personnel.
  • Must be able to obtain base access (DBIDS) as required by the military installation.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and variable shifts based on production requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supervising structural repair projects aboard Navy vessels.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and military ship repair specifications.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime, OSHA 30, or equivalent safety training.
  • Experience with dry dock, waterfront, and modernization projects.
  • Prior experience managing large production crews in a shipyard environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise structural crews performing steel fabrication, repair, modification, and installation aboard vessels and within shipyard facilities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and prioritize daily production activities to meet project schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor work progress, manpower utilization, and production performance throughout assigned projects.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, work packages, and technical instructions to ensure accurate execution of structural work.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Quality Control, Production, and other trades to support efficient project completion.
  • Ensure structural work is performed in accordance with applicable shipyard procedures, customer requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings, toolbox meetings, and worksite inspections.
  • Identify production challenges and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and quality objectives.
  • Review completed work for quality, workmanship, and compliance before turnover to customers or inspection personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records related to manpower, production status, material needs, and project progress.
